7 Years Later – Boise Idaho Photographer

You guys remember the band Hanson? Well when I was little I LOVED them. I couldn’t get enough of them and all I wanted was to be able to watch them in concert one day. So 10 years went by and I totally forgot about them. During my senior year in high school I heard on the radio that they were coming to Boise. My friend and I decided that we had to go because it would be fun. It turned out to be super fun and I actually enjoyed their music. They don’t play the same teeny bopper music that they did back in the day. Don’t hate – some people like Brett Michaels, I like Hanson.

After the concert we were leaving and saw that they were signing autographs.

Okay, I lied. We randomly decided to walk around back to see if they would be out there and they totally came out and signed autographs and pictures. My friend and I wanted to get our picture with the one that we always liked – probably because he was the closest to our age.

Here are two pictures from then.

A few months ago I got wind of them coming back to town. We had so much fun before that we decided to go again and of course like the crazy, married, stalker-like people we are, we went and got our picture again.

And because most people still don’t get it, I’ve decided to share a video of these guys jamming. They can rock musical instruments like nobody’s business. It’s actually pretty fun to watch them jam. This video is from 2009, but it’s still basically the same.

Gunner’s Birthday – Boise Idaho Birth Photographer

It seems I’ve been showing a lot of videos lately. It’s not some new kick I’m on, just happens to be the types of sessions I’ve had lately. Usually when I photograph some sort of event I like to create a little sideshow because I feel it tells the story better. I don’t do it for normal photo session, just stuff like weddings, deployments, births and that sort of thing.

Here’s the slide show from Gunner’s birth.

Mini-Courses are Back – For Real This Time

A few months ago I launched a post that was advertising some mini-courses to learn to use your DSLR camera. After some discussion I decided to push them out a little into the fall since the summer was a little crazy for everyone.

Well we are back in business and there’s no canceling this time (well, unless there is less than 5 people signed up ;) ). I’m also partnered up with Meridian Parks and Recreation so they are handling the sign-up and we’ll be using their facility.

Here is the breakdown.

———

Each session will be 2 days, 2 hours each. So it is a total of 4 hours of class. The classes are on Sundays in the early afternoon and are spaced out a little bit. I’ve aimed it toward moms who want to learn how to use their cameras and take better photos of their kids, but it’s not restricted to that. In each class we can tweak the material depending on what everyone wants. Here’s a basic description of the course:

This course is for moms who want to step out of the box and really learn how to use their cameras to take pictures of their kids. The first session will be basic photography terms, camera functions, and how to use your camera in manual. The second session will focus on composition and a little bit of technique. The class can take a different direction depending on the level of skill the participants are. Participants will receive a packet with all information learned in class. Class located at the Meridian Community Center. Min 5/ Max 20.

116th Cavalry Brigade – Boise Idaho Photographer

A few months ago a friend of mine had called me asking if I could come and photograph on the day that her husband was being deployed. Of course I agreed.

As the day was getting closer the more I was sad for my friend, not even married a year, who would be without her husband for a year.

The night before he was to be sent off I couldn’t really sleep. Mainly because I was thinking about what I would do if I were in that situation. I was also mentally preparing myself because – is it really cool to hire a photographer and have her become a crying fool during the time she’s photographing? Well it didn’t work. I cried anyway.

Instead of only sharing 5-8 photos I decided to put this one on a video to music so that I could share a lot more. This isn’t all of them, but a combination of my favorites. I also decided to only leave a couple colored images because I felt like that black and white told the story better.

Also, the video plays here pretty small so I’d recommending bumping up to 760HD and watching it bigger.

This senior was absolutely stunning. I decided to pull this one to share just because I loved it so much.

It reminds me of a Taylor Swift song:

I’m alone, on my own and I’m starting off
I’ll be strong, I’ll be wrong, oh, but life goes on
Oh, I’m just a girl trying to find a place in this world

Though she’s not quite out there on her own, I feel like this photo symbolizes what most of us felt like when we were approaching that new stage in our lives.

Behind the Scenes – Boise Idaho Family Photographer

I haven’t shown a lot of behind the scenes lately (mainly because I don’t have them) but I came across this one while sorting a photo session so I thought I’d share.

It’s kinda fun to get at a different angle for a fun shot. Sometimes it requires a little bit of dirt and looking silly but I think it’s worth it.
